Silent games to play

Keeping kiddos quiet AND happy is a super sneaky trick that all moms and teachers need to have up their sleeves. These games are much better than shooing your kids into a room to watch a movie. And these screen-free activities are awesome ideas too! Keeping kids occupied lets them know you want them to be quiet — but happily engaged in a learning, connecting activity. If you are in an airport, a waiting room or anywhere that needs kids to sit quietly, try these games instead of repeatedly shushing your kids…ha!

Many of these games work for ages three and up, but some are only appropriate for school-age children. The person that starts the game then picks the next quietest child, and then that child picks the next quietest child.

Even though this is simple, kids do not normally tire of this game until about 30 minutes. The phrase cannot be repeated so it is very important that all the kids stay quiet so everyone can hear the message. At the end, have the last person say the message out loud to see how silly the message turned out!

Maybe the weather has pushed recess indoors. Maybe your students need to let loose to help them refocus. Whatever the case may be, here are 5 quiet games that you can play with your students while still managing your classroom.

Whisper a message to one of your students. That student should whisper the message to the next student who whispers it to the next student. The message should continue to get passed around the room in this manner. When it reaches the last student, he or she should announce the message for the entire class. Was it the same message that you whispered at the beginning? Have students take turns coming up with the message.

Silent Hill: Downpour released in for the Xbox and Playstation 3 and is sadly the last mainline entry in the series. Unfortunately, Downpour wasn't incredibly well-received, mostly down to a combat-heavy gameplay experience and a generally unlikeable protagonist, Murphy Pendleton.

Murphy is a convict that happens to escape a prison bus transport gone wrong. Of course, he inevitably stumbles upon the titular Silent Hill and things go south from there. It still had some good scares but didn't live up to the original games' potential. Silent Hill: Book of Memories is a franchise spinoff that takes the survival horror elements but blends them up with a top-down RPG adjacent experience. Book of Memories released in for the Playstation Vita.

Silent Hills P. This game still featured the titular town as well as the well-known otherworld but centered on multiple playable characters, character customization, specific gameplay zones, a unique karma meter, and even multiplayer. This type of spinoff hasn't really been done since but it should be praised for trying to innovate. Silent Hill: HD Collection came out in for Xbox and Playstation 3 to less than stellar critical and fan reception.

While the idea of playing Silent Hill 2 and 3 in HD graphics was tantalizing , this collection, unfortunately, took what made the original game's limitation, namely, the fog, and removed it altogether.

Explain the rules of play and check for understanding with yes or no questions. You will need one medium size ball, any that is appropriate for the players catching skill level.

They talk or make noise. Play continues until only one person remains. Last player standing gets to be first to throw the ball in the next round. All players who were sitting may return to play at the start of a new round. If game is progressing slowly, add a challenge by limiting time to throw, having all players take spread out, asking everyone to keep one hand behind their back at all times and so on. Variations: For young, beginning players: Have youth sit or stand in a circle.
